King of the Cage Comes to the Philippines

I've always wondered: Did Brad Pitt's Fight Club character invent the MMA? Or did they put together the MMA because of Fight Club? I keed. With men nowadays getting up from their desks and couches, determined to improve their health, body, and at times, libido, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is now becoming one of the fastest-growing sports in the world!

With over 400 events of blood, sweat, and tears, the Southern California-based mixed martial arts promotion, King of the Cage (KOTC) has brandished itself a name and a formidable reputation in the evolution of the full contact sport. Founder-slash-promoter, Terry Trebilcock, has propelled KOTC In the last 10 years when MMA - back then called No Holds Barred Fighting - was a sport on the verge of extinction and now on the forefront of sports entertainment.

And they have now come to the Philippines.

King of the Cage has become a springboard for the careers of some of today's MMA superstars inclusing Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, "Sugar" Rashad Evans, Thiago "Pitbull" Alves, Urijah "The California Kid" Faber, and Diego "The Nightmare" Sanchez, who are currently in the Philippines.

Through a series of MMA fighter screenings held at the SM City Marikina Event Center last April, and at the Metrowalk Tent in Ortigas Center, Pasig in May, KOTC started its grassroots search for the next batch of Filipino MMA superstars, with the most talented and exciting fighters being included in KOTC Ph's first main event - King of the Cage Worldwide at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on July 5, 2013.

It's going to be an exciting showcase of 20 local mixed martial arts talents representing Elorde Dungeon, New Blood MMA, Yawyan Buhawi, Submission Sport Philippines, and Team Agression - just among the many other melting pots of MMA talent all over Metro Manila going head to head for the 10 undercard division.

This event also features two colossal World Championship fights: Sean Strickland (11-0) vs. Yuske Sakashita and Filipino-Hawaiian Lowen Tynanes (5-0) vs. Joe Condon.

If the idea of men fighting it out in a cage without cheesy choreographed moves with names like "The People's Elbow", " Bronco Buster", or the "Five Knuckle Shuffle", then maybe the search for the next King of the Cage Girl would pique your interest. The lucky ladies selected will not only be the 'Round Girls', but also KOTC Ph's brand ambassadors!

When mucking around Manila on July 5th, head on over to MOA Arena  - preferably in complete Spartacus regalia - to witness MMA history in the making and to support the 10 Filipino undercard fights!

"This... Is... MANILAAAAA!"
