Kashmir: The Best Indian Food in Manila

Jericho had bought a Groupon for Kashmir and was nice enough to share it with me! Woo hoo! For authentic Indian food, Kashmir is the only place that qualifies (at least in my book), all their other counterparts are put to shame. I know they say they're Persian-Indian, but nowadays they're more Indian-Malaysian. We hit up the branch along Pasay Road on a late Sunday afternoon, and were pleasantly surprised that there was only one other customer there.

Don Limone at BF Homes Parañaque

I went home to Las Piñas for the weekend, which was a nice change of pace from the usual weekend in the city. Staying at Jericho's, we were busy working on a project we're hoping to get off the ground by June, and I was happily mooching off the home-cooked meals and sneaking in the occasional peanut butter binge (Y U No have crunchy peanut butter?!).

We were starving by dinner, but didn't quite know where or what to eat, and ended up cruising around BF Homes Parañaque, the foodie mecca of the South, scoping out the new places that had popped up in the past few years. I haven't gone down South for over a year and was surprised at all the new hole-in-the-wall restaurants that had sprung up on Aguirre Avenue.

Yakitori Kitchen at Forbestown

After an especially stressful work day, Jericho came by to cheer me up and take me out to dinner. He is the best food buddy to ask out 'coz he always says yes. Sometimes I don't even have to ask, he's already familiar with protocol.

I had wanted to try out the Japanese place at Burgos Circle called Yakitori Kitchen for a while. It's a quaint, unassuming place sandwiched between Bugsy's and the Bread Bag Pandesal Bar. The restaurant itself is very, erm, Japanese. The place is small but cozy, the decor is simple with black and white Japanese paintings on the wall and a blue banner over the bar, and the wait staff are are very polite and accommodating.

Sunday Morning at Mercato Centrale

I had been wanting to visit Mercato Centrale for a while now after an insatiable hankering for some good, savory pie. I remembered Tina Raine's Aussie pies of Tina's Pie Outlet last year at Mercato and wanted to have more of that again. I used to walk over to Mercato after the graveyard shift when I was working at the Fort and Mercato was at its old space near Serendra. Now that they've moved I haven't gone as much since I didn't want to make the trip out to the Home Depot side of BGC by myself. So off I went ,with Jericho in tow, on a sunny Sunday morning to go pie shopping.

Saturday with the Bulgogi Brothers

The good and the bad thing about hanging out with Jericho is that the guy is always hungry! He doesn't look like the type to be eating a full meal every 2 hours, but he is. I met up with him one particularly hot Saturday afternoon at Greenbelt, after he had coaxed me out with the promise of treating me to a late lunch. We were both pretty set on getting sushi at Manila Maki, but it was closed on that particular Saturday, and our favorite Japanese joint wouldn't be open until later that afternoon, so that Jap attempt was pretty much a big, fat, farking failure.

After a good 15-minutes of aimless wandering and a misunderstanding between Cyma and  Café Mediterranean (don't know how you could mistake one for the other, but it happened!), our feet ended up making the lunch choice for us, leading us to Bulgogi Brothers.
